About Me

Sarah Voelzke

Founder and Principal

I am Sarah Voelzke and I’ve spent two decades working alongside people who believe in making things better — from small, international aid organizations to large health and human services organizations.

Along the way, I’ve worn nearly every hat: fundraising coach, banker, operations lead, board member, and volunteer.

Over time, I found myself drawn to the heart of donor stewardship — the art of honoring generosity through clarity and accountability. Clear internal controls aren’t just a financial best practice; they’re the foundation of effective donor stewardship.

Those controls require rhythm: dependable systems, reliable information, and the confidence to make decisions grounded in reality.

Experience and Perspective

I started Rhythm Consulting because I saw a pattern that repeated itself everywhere I went: small teams doing incredible work, held back by disorganized systems and weak internal controls.

Without a finance director, the executive director or treasurer was often left juggling spreadsheets late at night, trying to make sense of it all. Month after month, good people were spending their energy reacting to problems instead of leading with vision.

I wanted to change that.

Through Rhythm, I help organizations put practical, reliable systems in place — the kind that run quietly in the background so leaders can focus on the work that really matters. When the financial side of your organization moves smoothly, it frees up time and attention for everything else.
